What if one day you come to know that the moral value lessons from your school was all a lie?
One thing that I embed from my childhood days is sharing and caring. I have always been the kind of kid who would think of others before thinking of myself.
What? I am not self appreciating myself again. I will tell you a story. Once when I was say 4 or 5 years old, dad, me, mom and sis sat for our dinner. Yes in that exact order. Now I remember we had ordered Chilly Chicken and I had learnt to eat it just recently. It would be the apt time to say I wasn’t and am still not fond of anything spicy and I used to throw a lot of tantrum if mom used to make spicy home food(Still do it). I was just against it. But somehow for this particular dish I could somehow magically manage to eat. That is still a mystery unsolved. But anyways we were eating that. I had one piece left when I saw dad had already finished his chilly chicken. I felt bad(don’t know why) So I offered him my piece. He said no. I insisted but he again said no. I kept on insisting (I don’t know for how long) and finally he gave in.
He went ahead and took the piece and put it in his mouth. Chewed it and swallowed it too.(Imagine all this is Slow motion please). This was too much for me to witness. I started crying(for a long time). Now my family was confused. And also shocked I guess. They asked what happened? It was you who insisted dad after all. And then I replied :
I was just being nice and I expected him to take a bite. 🤦
It is since then that my dad never takes food from my plate even if I insist. I guess he got his lesson and well I think I might be Joey who doesn’t like sharing her food after all 🙈

I once stopped a gang of 8 from attacking and robbing a lady on the train.
I took control of a bad situation and unfortunately used to opportunity to make sure the late arriving cops knew that they were the only party involved who got paid yet were the only ones who weren’t there.
Considering I had been in a political science lecture that day I probably could have exercised a little better diplomacy.

That was a very brave thing of you to do. Even if you ignore the rest of the situation, you took stand and helped the lady. That itself is commendable. I hope we have more people who actually helps someone in need.

I don’t understand that there is any choice no matter what injuries I carry.
A lot of people want every comfort and security with service to none.
Part of living in a society (Jane Austen defines society well) is complementing others in the society and sharing strengths.
Our hemisphere has been weakened by selfishness and cowardice. “Everyone having their price” has had it’s day.
All that went through my mind when I went into action was the thought that if this gang got her off that train on the platform alone… her parents would be flying in from Japan to collect her body. From somewhere in my mind I had this bizarre thought that other people can’t think we are all like this in Australia.
Every other passenger sat there watching and doing nothing was all I saw as I forced the doors open and jumped off the train as it was leaving the station.
The police arrived late and I went from being a hero to refusing to repeat their words on a statement making them look good.
They never got the gang despite knowing them because their process actually obstructed them doing what they had to and they have so much work and not nearly enough adequate police to do it.

This is really degrading to our society. To think such politics exists. Right now we have such an educated society where if one wants can at least try to put a stop to all these nuisances but no they just be the spectator of any heinous act. This won’t change unless together we all put a step forward. Had there been other members supporting you I am sure justice would have prevailed. or say forced to be prevailed. But there were none. That is what complicates the matter and gives others the encouragement to continue with such acts.

I have done many embarrassing things… I once decided to to cross a train bridge as a youth, aware that the train was due soon. A friend and I had challenged one another, and our pride made us follow through. Less than halfway across, the train turned the corner… We were very afraid, and needed to lean out on the bridge (very very high above the water – several hundred feet) to avoid being killed; the train driver was very upset and worried as he passed. Afterwards, we hardly spoke aboutitand were quite embarrassed of our foolishness.

That was quite a risky thing to do and something which I personally don’t approve. Life is more precious than our ego right. I hope this incident made you cautious in your life too. Thank you for sharing your embarrassing story. I am sure we all have been foolish at some point of time.

Yes, it was an incredibly foolish thing to do. This incident had a profound impact on me, and taught me the danger of allowing my pride and ego to influence my decisions…

When I started working in UK, I noticed no one offered food during lunch breaks as opposed to India, where we all used to share our lunch! Haha no offence, but its sometimes nice to just be offered food (just seems polite).

That’s for sure. One must always offer food when sitting in a group. It might seem a bit rude and uncomfortable otherwise.( Even if you don’t want to).

I’ve had my share of embarrassing moments since I was young. And when it comes to food, my friends know that I don’t really share my favorites, I’d offer them some but not as much as when I offer other foods/things… some people are annoyed of this behavior of mine but the hell with them! Haha!

Lol well yes and no, I don’t normally share popcorn which is my favourite unless it’s with someone I really like, but I got that from my mom who doesn’t like sharing food at all. 😂
