She felt sick. She didn’t want to eat anything. First, she got high fever and then this splitting headache. What was wrong with her? She had a busy week planned ahead which included a very important meeting with her client. She had to give her best. To get this contract she had put her life on hold for so many years. No outing, no parties and no boyfriend. Her (then)boyfriend was getting needy and she didn’t have time to deal with it. The heart-break did slow her progress initially but after sometime she felt free. Now she could devote all her time to work.
Maybe it was the mental pressure that was beating her down. She popped on a few medicines and went off to work. Of course she wouldn’t call in sick. She had a reputation to maintain. Anita checked her phone for any messages. There were none. She sometimes missed getting calls or messages from her friends. They did try to stay in touch with her but again it’s never a one way thing and Anita never really put in any effort.
She was feeling really strange today. More like needy and nostalgic. She wanted to talk to her parents and know how they have been. She was sure they would forgive her for being so ignorant for the past few years. She picked up her phone to call them and then saw the time. It was late. The call had to wait. She had loads of work to complete first.
She could feel the slack in her work today. Only if she could concentrate. She had a hard time recalling few of the important points. Biting her lower lip and tapping the pen on the table, she decided to nap a little.
As she closed her eyes she felt her body loosen its grip. Suddenly she didn’t have a control over it and could see her life’s flashback in front of her.
~There she was as a kid, playing happily with her mom and dad. Her dad giving her a horse ride on his back even though he had back problems just because she loved it. Now that she hardly called them, she felt guilty.
~There she was gossiping with her college friends who were once her lifeline. They would share every little secret(even the dark ones) with each other. Now she hardly knew where they even lived.
~There she was, her boyfriends arm wrapped upon her and the safest place in this world. She loved it how he would tease her and pull her chubby cheeks. She did love him then and still loved him. Only if she had not let him go.
She couldn’t understand why and when did she become so career oriented. She gave up all her life for what? That’s it. She had memories of her happy life for such a short time span. No more memories to remember after that. She had achieved so much in her life yet she felt this achievement to be incomplete. She didn’t enjoy the process.
She opened her moist eye and wiped away the tears with her handkerchief. She tried getting up from her seat but couldn’t find the strength. She couldn’t feel her legs. They wobbled as she collapsed and fell off the chair with a bang. Soon there was a crowd near her and she was taken to the hospital immediately only to be declared dead. She gave up on life too soon. Only if she had lived her life, like she was supposed to. Only if she could talk to her parents once to let them know she did think of them. Only if she could kiss her boyfriend goodbye.
PS : Don’t live your life on Only If and What If. You never know what’s in store for you. One can keep pushing things away saying it’s never the right moment but do we really know when it is actually the right time? Take a step before it’s too late. Let people know what they mean to you.

Lovely story.😊
Thank you so much 🤗
Unfortunately such stories are very real everywhere on the world. Happy to be retired now to be honest! Take care of such idiotical behavior @ Ulli
Lucky you 🙂
I know it’s unfortunate and sometimes we don’t see how much we have trapped ourselves with irrelevant work. We should definitely know how to enjoy life along with working hard. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Wow..That was a tragedy..But I agree with the message it shows….Lovely post… Wherefrom you get these ideas????????????👌👌
Thank you for appreciating. That’s a relief that I could deliver a message. 🙂
Well I was working on some issue(which bored me so much )that it made me think what I am working so hard for and that lead me to this. 😀
I guessed so😁😁
Haha 😂🙈
Really niec story.
Thank you Ataraxik 🙂
Lovely post. Sometimes we take importance in things which appear to be important but actually are not and ignore things which are actually important 🌸
Thank you Shantanu. That’s right. We really need to understand that a job can give us money but not everything else. We shouldn’t let our work affect our personal life. 🙂
Great thought and I agree
Great people think alike😂

Well said and thanks for sharing!!… 🙂 social pressure, etc (trying to be someone you do not wish to be, is not you) can have a terrible impact on one’s life… why I chose to be different and took the path least traveled… 🙂
“Today I choose life. Every morning when I wake up I can choose joy, happiness, negativity, pain… To feel the freedom that comes from being able to continue to make mistakes and choices – today I choose to feel life, not to deny my humanity but embrace it.” Kevyn Aucoin
So true and how beautifully quoted.
Life indeed should be lived on ones own term. Nothing should stop one from staying happy. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Means a lot☺️

I precisely wished to thank you very much once more. I do not know the things I would’ve taken care of without the strategies documented by you relating to this topic. It actually was a frightening setting in my circumstances, nevertheless witnessing a professional style you managed that took me to weep for delight. Extremely grateful for this service and in addition sincerely hope you really know what a great job you’re putting in training people today thru your web site. Most probably you haven’t met all of us.
Well, I don’t know how this story helped you but if it did then great. 🙂
