Disclaimer: Before you make any assumptions, I am talking about a real rat with tantrums double its size. However, it can be interpreted in several ways. The story you’re about to read is true and NO RATS WERE HURT IN THE PROCESS (YET). Can’t guarantee the same for their feelings though.
To begin with, the rat is currently residing at my house with no plans of evacuating and has turned my life upside down (Literally with tiny yet hundreds of poops). Been trying to figure out where its hiding place is like forever but the rat is clever. Damn clever, Evil genius and, I am not exaggerating!
Just to make things clear, living in my house rent-free is one thing, but invading my privacy? Na-ah!!! I did not invite the rat and certainly did not ask for its company in my bed. In fact, it was just today that I realized where his hidden house might be. NEXT TO MINE. Imagine my surprise when at about 4 AM I suddenly felt something jump on my leg (twice) until I finally kicked it out of despair and shock. That’s one feeling I do not want to experience again. Definitely not when I am asleep. I am not an early morning person either so imagine my frustration when I pulled the bed aside and saw the horror beneath. Good Morning! Have a poopy day ahead is what the sight conveyed :X
Now, in no manner do I support any animal cruelty and the kick was a reflex. I knew there was a rat somewhere in the house because I could see half nibbled bananas lying around in the kitchen. Even the plastic container with flour in it showed failed attempts of rats trying to sneak inside. All this and I still didn’t use rat poison. ( BTW, the container is really strong for the cheap price I bargained for. Definitely buying these rat-attack-proof containers in the future).
Coming back to the point, I am not a cruel person. It’s just that I cannot stand rats sleeping in/under/anywhere near the bed without my permission. Consent matters. No? 😉
With that being said, I am going to make a bold statement that many might not agree with. Rats are cute only when they are animated like Ratatouille and I know people keep them as pets outside India and I mean no offense. Maybe they are more domesticated out there? In India, Rats are hooligans. ( I apologize to all my Indian friends who think otherwise. I am sure your rat is the best. However, it’s better to keep it away from me).
PS: Ever had a rat attack your house? How do you deal with such a situation? I mean no harm but I want it out of my house and my life for good. I hope that doesn’t make me a bad person.
To all those who have a love-hate relationship with rats,
I Heart You All <3

Yikes. A rat in bed is not good. I do like your consent joke. I totally see where you’re coming from. First, I’d figure out how he gets in and out (if he gets out). Watch when you open/close doors. Look for holes in the wall, etc. But yea, I would definitely do something about that furry animal.
Lovely post. I liked your sense of humor. I don’t like rats too and I started disliking them even more since I saw a documentary on rats. How they invade every place and can survive in the worst and dirtiest places like sewage. I always fear what if I eat food eaten or contaminated by a rat.
