Work From Home Or Work Of Home?🤔

For those who are doing both, Please raise your hands. I would have probably raised both my hands(to exaggerate) but guess what? I don’t have a spare one to do the typing.(A moment of silence for this pathetic joke) So just to clarify, Yes! I am with you all in this and I too wish I could just skip this time and go forward to better times. Can we all just stay at home and irradicate this virus, please? That is in fact in our hands. Right?

Have you ever seen the trailer of a movie and decided whether it’s worth watching or not? Well! 2020 started as a comedy trailer and turned into a horror movie and now everyone wants to avoid it just like a Ram Gopal Verma movie but can’t. Hands down! 2020 gets the Most Disastrous year Award of the decade. It’s like 2020 was supposed to be one of the best years because of the digits(or whatever). Turns out we got bamboozled and all my tantrums of being daddy’s princess and not doing any household chores in the past are trying to set scores with me.

Not that I am complaining(because I am so grateful that I have a home and a way to earn) but it does get frustrating. Right? Day in and Day out you have to work on your laptop and then take care of the house. Never did I imagine how my mother worked it out all and didn’t complain even once. My respect keeps on increasing for all the men and women who take care of their families on a daily basis. You guys are amazing and I doubt I can ever be one of you.

Tell me what happens when the one thing that you hate is the exact thing that you have to do every day and most probably thrice a day? Any guesses? Well! It’s Cooking. If you know me at all, you will know how I hate cooking and because of this lockdown, I have to feed myself. Can you imagine the no. of burns and finger cuts I have right now? Oh, Wait! Are you worried if the food is eatable or not? Turns out I can cook and I am a good learner thanks to YouTube but the catch is since I hate cooking I stay hungry as long as I can, and when there is no other option I make something that’s unhealthy and involves lots of deep-frying and junk food.

The only good thing that happened due to this lockdown is that I have stopped ordering food from outside and I have lost 2-3 kgs just by not cooking and eating. 😂 Not to forget, this lockdown has turned everyone into a Chef and I had to mute my group chat notifications just because they keep sending pictures of the dishes prepared by them and that’s the last nail in the coffin. Tell me who all are gaining weight in this lockdown or did you lose weight?

In terms of office work, the productivity has for sure increased because who are we kidding, Bangalore traffic is the worst and now that I don’t have to waste my time commuting, I can actually focus on the real work and take rest when required and by rest I mean sleep or watch series(during/after) meeting. 🤫

Do I miss watching familiar faces at the office? I sure do and hopefully, things will start getting normal sooner or later. I never thought I would be saying this but I miss my seat and the monthly cake cutting ceremony. I guess I was and will always be greedy for cakes. Can’t help but wait. For now, what we can do is continue working (from+of) home and get used to it. I know it sucks but that’s the need of the hour.

PS: Tell me how you’re dealing with your life right now. How’s the situation at your place? This is the only thing that is common for all people from different parts of the world and we can all connect and talk about it. I hope you and your family are safe. Let’s hope for the best but also prepare for the worst. Let’s build our immunity and be healthy.
Also I am going to update my name here from missteriosodas to Rimika or alwaysmissbindas. Please do no get confused. 🤗

Like most people, my brain is still trying its best to find a ‘normal’ path through this nightmare. It hasn’t found one yet!

    1. Agreed. Sometimes we don’t want to accept the reality since it’s so bad. Hopefully things change for better.

Well, I guess is better late than never learning how to clean a bit. You are learning how to cook also. You are lucky that you can work out of the laptop, very few here in Spain has that luxury really. 1million new homeles people only in one region of Spain, right now I can hear the neighbour insulting his kids, the dog barking to who know what at this point, I should be a bird though….yes, they are constantly “piii” “piiipppi” so these ones must have a very interesting conversation. I don´t even know if I´ll be able to pay the rent next month… I might start packing and going down with the new homeless people. Good news is that they are not homeless criminals, just regular people that after two months of no income out they go in to homeless shelters. You are very lucky trust me. And now that I´m at it, I can´t even go visit my mother in the hospital, she might die there and me not able to go, maybe not even to her own funeral. So you are lucky overall considering the situation of others.

    1. I was not able to go to the funeral of my immediate family member. Definitely an interesting experience.

      1. That’s really heartbreaking to know 🙁

        1. Sorry to bum you out.

    2. Oh no 🙁 That’s terrible to know. I hope things work out soon for you. My prayers are with you and your family.

  8. I was just browsing through the list of people I follow on Twitter yesterday and wondered how you were. Good to see you.
Yes, I, too, am working remotely. No, I have not become a chef. Since I spent all day at home, I also produce more dishes and make a bigger mess than if I was at the office. But at the same time, I am so grateful for no traffic!!!

    1. Haha! I totally get you. Even I create a mess and I can never be a chef for sure 🙂

  9. librepaley says:

Yup, both. Also grateful, but overwhelmed at times. Keep the faith!

    1. True! Sometimes it gets on my nerves but then I remember I am still fortunate. 🙂

hahaha this is great summary of 2020 ” started as a comedy trailer and turned into a horror movie”

    1. I know! Right? 😂
